The word theme is used by Atlassian to define a theming add-on, like Theme Press. Out-of-the-box Confluence installs with a default theme. That default "current theme" controls how your pages will look and feel. When you start using Theme Press, you assign Theme Press itself to replace the default Confluence theme. Thereafter, Theme Press manages all your site and space themes from within the Theme Press Control Panel, rather than the Confluence administration panel. Sometimes, your users will want to keep the "plain vanilla" look of the Confluence Default Theme. With the Brikit Default Theme app, you can let one or more spaces remain "unthemed," while users in other spaces have branded and themed spaces. Use?! for this setting, which Brikit refers to as the Confluence Default Theme. This setting controls the presentation of all spaces across the site. - Want Theme Press applied to all spaces in your site? Select Brikit Theme Press as your Current Theme.
- Want Theme Press applied only to specific spaces in your site? Select Default Theme as your Current Theme.

| Confluence Administration → General Configuration → Look and Feel → Themes | Out-of-the-box Confluence installs with a theme in place–we call this the Confluence Default Theme. When you start using Theme Press, your System Administrator will set Theme Press as your default Confluence theme, and thereafter, Theme Press manages all your site and space themes. Think of it as Confluence using Theme Press as a "theme sub-contractor." |
