A taxonomy is a collection of terms (words), each of which represents some part of a domain or enterprise. Taxonomies are commonly used to label documents in a given domain. Individual terms in a taxonomy are often grouped into categories that represent a particular aspect or facet of the domain. This categorization gives shape and structure to the entire collection of terms and is itself part of the taxonomyhelps keep taxonomy terms organized in a meaningful way.
