You're team is using Confluence to create, organize and discuss work. Great, but, it has one basic problem: it isn't very pretty. Out-of-the-box Confluence's Default Theme is functional, but not aesthetic. And it matters! Research shows that visually consistent and well-branded sites are more engaging for users–and that translates directly to more consistent use and improved productivity. Uninviting and uncomfortable sites often go unused.

How Theme Press works

You assign Theme Press as your Confluence theme (in place of Default Theme), and then manage multiple themes. Customize and match themes to organization or departmental needs.

Theme Press sits on top of your Confluence instance and manages the display of each page as it's built. Based on your design decisions, it creates consistent and visually appealing pages. Theme Press inserts the necessary CSS and HTML directly into your page code as the page is generated. You make the design decisions and the app does the behind-the-scenes work.

When it's installed, Theme Press creates your Theme Press Default Space. This space holds architect pages that define the format and elements of your pages, including separate pages for the header, footer, banner, and layouts. These architect pages can be copied, renamed, modified and then used as alternatives to your formatting on a space or page-by-page basis. Menus are also defined by architect pages, and both the style and options can be modified.

Page Layouts are especially versatile, allowing you to change your content display from a single content block (the Confluence default) to a layout of blocks, columns and layers that works best. Layouts can include pre-configured or dynamic content that helps users build consistent and useful pages. Using the Page tab of the Theme Press Designer, users can control what page elements are visible in the layout, such a breadcrumbs, page title, likes & labels, etc.

The Theme Designer lets you engage in theming--working with color pallets, fonts, and logo placements--to visually design pages that best reflect your company's brand. You can place move objects such as the search bar, menus, header, footer, page title, and others to create a comfortable, functional, and consistent look-and-feel for users.

Getting started with Theme Press

When you install Theme Press, you'll automatically get the Theme Press Demo Space and Theme Press Default Space. Your Platform Administrator can do the basic configuration of setting up permissions and making sure Theme Press is set as your default theme.

Then, you can get started. With the Theme Designer you can create a new theme to match your company brand with correct logos, fonts and colors. Working with the Architect Pages in the Default Space, you can redefine the menus and structure your pages.

Use the included Theme Press Macros to build enticing pages with dynamic content.

Add social features, such as likes and comments, to encourage community and engagement.
