Setting parameters for a more focused search that yields relevant search results

While you may not have any control over what a user might enter into a search field, with Brikit Targeted Search you do have control over the scope of the initial search as well as what types of filters can be used to further narrow the search.  Setting these parameters ahead of time will result in improved search outcomes where users can quickly find exactly what they're looking for.

Consider the content you would like your users to be able to find.

Think about the desired outcome of your users' search experience in a given environment.  What kinds of content are your users expecting in their list of search results?  What would be helpful to them in this context?  Where exactly does this content live on your site?  What differentiates this particular content from other content on the site?  Knowing or anticipating users' needs will help with the following steps:

Make that content findable.

  • Replace me with a link
  • Replace me with a link
  • Aim for 4 or fewer related links.  If we need more, that's okay.  Be judicious.  Delete me when you're done.
