An Introduction to Themes

Last updated

If you're new to Theme Press, learning about themes may be a good place to start.

Themes are at the heart of Theme Press. A theme controls the look and feel of the pages on your site or an individual space.

Making Theme Press your Confluence theme

Confluence has themes too, so there's a little trick in the configuration process to get you started. Since you'll want to work with different themes in Theme Press, you tell Confluence that Theme Press IS your Theme, and then Theme Press will manage your themes from there.

  1. From the Confluence Administration () menu, select General Configuration. (You'll need administrator permissions.)
  2. Under Look and Feel, select Themes.
  3. Select Theme Press as your Confluence Theme.
  4. You're ready to roll.

Working with Lumen

When you install Theme Press, the Lumen theme is set as your default. You can't modify Lumen, so instead, you should make a copy of Lumen, and work with the new theme.

To copy the Lumen theme, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Theme tab of the Theme Designer.
  2. In the Themes section, expand the Manage Themes accordion.
  3. Click the magnifying glass to the right of the Installed Themes setting.
  4. Select the Lumen theme (it's the one with the Brikit Theme Press logo–if you roll over it, it will say "Lumen") and click the copy icon ().
  5. Enter a New Theme Name and click OK.

Now, you can modify your new theme as much as you want. You always have Lumen as a back-up.

Downloading Themes

You can download themes from a test, staging or production server (with appropriate permissions).

To download a theme, follow this procedure:

  1. Open the Themes Designer and choose Manage Themes in the Themes  section.
  2. Click the magnifying glass to the right of the Installed Themes setting.
  3. Select a theme to download and click the download icon ().
  4. Theme Press downloads a .zip file to your default download folder.

Uploading Themes

You've got your hands on a Theme Press theme you want to use, now what?

Follow this procedure to upload a new theme:

Warning

Theme Press only accepts zipped files.

  1. Open the Themes Designer and choose Manage Themes in the Themes  section.
  2. Click the magnifying glass to the right of the Installed Themes setting.
  3. Click the upload icon ().
  4. Navigate to and open the .zip file of the theme you're uploading.
  5. When the upload completes, your theme will be available.
